What is it?

The unique nature of the home as a setting for care provides some special challenges for the nurse in preventing the transmission of infection. In the home, the environment is controlled by the client, and their caregivers.

It is our responsibility to ensure that clients and carers understand the rationale for employing the principles of infection control. Infection control in the home setting is based on the principles of hygiene, cleanliness and sterility.
