Diabetes Services

What is it?

Diabetes is a condition in which certain foods (carbohydrates) are no longer used by the body in the normal way. This causes the blood sugar (glucose) level to be elevated, and can have both short term and long-term effects. The management of diabetes depends on the type of diabetes and the person's health, and can include diet and exercise, tablets or insulin injections.

Our nurses can help you by:

  • Providing education about diabetes and how to manage it
  • Helping you manage your diabetes independently
  • Monitoring your blood glucose levels
  • Administering tablets or insulin if you are unable to do so.

 Which staff can help?

All our nurses are skilled in diabetes management. We also have nurses who are experts in managing diabetes, and work alongside our general staff to ensure that your diabetes is managed in the best way possible.
