Continence management

What is it?

Continence is the ability to control bowel and bladder function. Sometimes, for various reasons, people lose this ability and need help to either regain continence or manage their incontinence.

Our nurses can help you by:

  • Assessing the problem and finding out the cause;
  • Providing advice about specialist tests and investigations, and communicating with your general practitioner; and
  • Helping you manage a continence problem and providing information about aids such as continence pads and catheters.

Which staff can help?

We have nurses who are experts in continence management, known as Clinical Nurse Consultants. These specialist nurses may visit to assess your continence and provide advice and support. They also work with our general nursing staff to provide a complete care package.

How can I access this service?

To have one of our qualified staff assess you or a loved one's nursing and healthcare needs call us on
1300 33 44 55. This line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
