Wound Care

What is it?

You may have a wound that you are very capable of managing yourself. Sometimes a wound needs professional management from a doctor or nurse. These wounds can include leg ulcers, lacerations and skin tears or wounds that have not healed properly after an operation.

Our nurses can help you by:

  • Carrying out a thorough wound assessment and looking at the underlying cause of your wound
  • Attending appropriate wound care using current wound management practice and
  • Communicating with your general practitioner or wound clinic as needed

Which staff can help?

All of our nurses are skilled in managing wounds, however, sometimes specialist nurses, known as Clinical Nurse Consultants, work alongside our general staff to ensure that your wound is managed in the best way possible, which means that healing time will be minimised.
