Cystic Fibrosis Services

What is it?

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic illness that causes the glands that secrete body fluids, such as sweat, mucous and enzymes, to produce abnormal secretions that are often thick or highly concentrated. This causes several problems including lung infections and reduced food digestion.

Our Staff can help you by:

  • Providing information at the time of diagnosis and ongoing support
  • Providing short term physiotherapy
  • Assisting with home intravenous therapy, including subcutaneous ports and other devices
  • Providing post operative transplant nursing care
  • Providing education for families, carers, schools, community groups and other health professionals
  • Providing phone contact with country people and a link to local community agencies and hospitals
  • Providing palliative care in the home.

 Which staff can help?

We have a team that includes nurses and physiotherapists who are experts in Cystic Fibrosis care. These specialist staff work with clients and families on an individual basis and where required, alongside our general staff to ensure that your health needs are met.
